training in pain management.

*Diagnostic or
Therapeutic Nerve Blocks
In low back and neck
pain, diagnostic nerve blocks using local anesthetics may
be indicated to precisely diagnose the anatomical
localization of individual pain generators prior to
treatment for such conditions as facet joint syndrome,
nerve root pain, discogenic pain, sacro-iliac joint pain
and others. Therapeutic nerve blocks with radio frequency
techniques or neurolytics are performed following
identification of the nerves involved in pain generation.
Implantable Pain Medication Pumps or
Catheters
These techniques provide
for the delivery of the highest concentration of
medication directly to the painful areas. This reduces
medication side effects, allows for early rehabilitation
and often prevents the need for hospitalization. They are
highly effective for cancer pain.
